Deep Water Discipleship—Info

‘Deep Water Discipleship’ is being organized and led by Kerygma Teams, Ireland a ministry of the lay mission organization Youth With A Mission. The sailing ship ‘ Next Wave’ is owned by Youth With A Mission . YWAM operates a number of vessels, that bring medical care, community development initiatives and evangelism outreaches to isolated poor communities around the world.

Discipleship Training

The day will include, prayer and praise, and teaching from the scriptures. Local and international speakers both Roman Catholic and Protestant will speak on: Christian Character; Integrity– Establishing the foundation; Obedience–The key to authority; Knowing Gods Voice–Leading self, leading others; Overcoming temptation. Walking in the Power of the Holy Spirit; Developing your Prayer Life.

Sailing Instruction
You will work alongside an experienced crew learning the foundational skills of sailing. Knots, rigging, learning the terms, setting the sails, . Next Wave is a beautiful and comfortable Gaff Rigged Sailing Ship. It has cabin space for 52 passengers.

International Community

The onboard community will number around 40 , you will be living and learning together with young Christians from all over the world.

Voyaging on the Irish Coast

We will sail from Waterford on July 14th and make our way along the beautiful southern coastline, visiting ports and points of interest along the way including Sherkin Island where we may have a chance to do some whale watching. We aim to visit the Skellig Islands where the Celtic monks lived and prayed for eight hundred years. We will then turn and sail back to Waterford. Some evenings we will tie up at port, some evenings we will lie at anchor off shore in a sheltered situation.

17-30 years – keen to grow in your faith – eager to learn to sail – ready to make new friends—17 year olds need a written
permission from their parents.

Costs? €425 Euros – Covers board, boat & training

What you will need

Two sets of clothes in a soft bag (no suitcases, no backpacks) Good rainproof jacket and legs, Non marking rubber soled shoes for deck, (trainers are fine).Towel Bible, notebook for lecture notes. Sunscreen Optional but useful (sunglasses, water ready soft soled sandals Sunhat & warm hat., money for treats. Space on a boat is limited—do not bring excess baggage
